I organize and host game jams from time to time. What's a game jam? A game jam is basically a video game development competition where participants try to develop a game, usually with a theme and in a relatively short amount of time.
I also host the OST Composing Jam, an online music competition where musicians and composers all around the globe are challenged to compose an original soundtrack of any style for an imaginary game, in just a little over than a week, based on a given theme.
I started my game development journey by joining game jams during the pandemic. Since then, I have fallen in love with game development and collaborated with game developers from all around the world, eventually placing top 3% in the world’s largest online game development competition (GMTK Game Jam 2021).
Studying in London, I also had the chance to participate in the Global Game Jam at Goldsmiths which have introduced me to so many like-minded creative individuals and continue to develop my video game development skills.
Data Science
Research Summary:
Developed a Random Forest model to predict a song’s success on Spotify based on audio features. Success was measured by average popularity and time spent in top rankings within the first 30 days. The model showed significant overfitting (Train R² = 0.357, Test R² = 0.100), suggesting that audio features alone are insufficient for accurate predictions. Loudness was identified as the most influential feature, though its impact is questionable due to Spotify’s normalization. The study highlights the need for additional industry data (e.g., artist popularity, marketing, playlist placements) to improve predictive accuracy.
